READY. SET. FLIP!

It all began a few months ago, working up ideas – or as the modern folks would call it, “brainstorming”, with our great team. One person shares their idea, another gives it a whirl while another teammate breaks out some new ideas, then of course one starts disagreeing with the artwork. That’s the way it goes until we can finally reach an agreement and start developing, change and test hundreds of things and figure out the “keywords” as they say in slang: “esto mola” or, that’s cool (yeah, we can be a bit annoying with Spanglish, but I worked in marketing for many years and it all just stuck with me.) So, we’ve put Flip Football to test.

It’s all or nothing. You’ve got something in mind, but you’ve gotta do something with it. You know it’s got potential but you’ve gotta work on it and pull out its key features. It’s a very long process of exchanging opinions between the entire team, or whatever it ends up being: multiple proposals until getting the “green light” from everyone. Anything that begins as a prototype must end up being a game, and they’re not short and easy phases because – as Lydia Grant said, “You’ve got big dreams. You want fame. Well, fame costs. And right here is where you start paying: in sweat.” So, imagine developing a videogame!

Eventually, step by step, you’ll get to the MVP. No, I’m not referring to Stephen Curry. It’s a moment of nervousness, disappointments, solutions and set phrases such as, “something’s gone wrong, retention isn’t good enough, we’ve gotta make this better, this is where it crashes, etc.” It’s a very fun phase for the creative ones because you already see potential in the product, you make a change, but then it can come back and gets on your nerves in just a few moments.

Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships”, Michael Jordan

That’s how it goes until, after many months of hard work, you’re able to make it to the next-to-last version in which you you find the point where the KPIs fall into place. And it’s in that moment when we can relax knowing that soon we’ll have to launch a version that improves what we’ve already got Live.

The creative process is exactly like what Jordan says, “Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships” and we’ve already won.
